Sticky Jewelry Featured in the Saint Petersburg Times

As you may already know, the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) recently announced their concern regarding medical ID's made from metals that contain cadmium. Cadmium isn't dangerous for the majority of the population, but the CEH's concern is that if ingested by a small child the the metal could be toxic because of its cadmium contents.

Sticky Jewelry = Safe Jewelry

Recently, the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) focused the nation’s attention on the presence of cadmium in children’s jewelry, warning parents of the danger associated with a child ingesting the toxic material. The type of metal jewelry that the CEH is referring to is known in the jewelry industry as ‘zinc alloy’ or ‘base metal’. It’s commonly used in very inexpensive fashion jewelry items, and poses no risk to adults, but a very small child who might put jewelry in his mouth can ingest any lead or cadmium contained in that jewelry, and that’s what makes it dangerous. All of the children’s medical id bracelets and pendants from Sticky Jewelry are made of 316L surgical stainless steel which is lead-free and cadmium-free. In fact, nearly all of our adult medical IDs are made of surgical stainless steel as well!

This Christmas, some of the creative employees at Sticky Jewelry decided to put together a David Letterman style "Top Ten" list about some of the reasons we love being StickyJ employees during Christmas. I thought a lot of our customers might appreciate this list almost as much as we do, so I'm posting the top 5 reasons right here.

Reason #5: StickyJ-pajama/pizza-party (one word)

This year, the suggestion was made that we should have one day on which all StickyJ employees would be encouraged to wear (modest) pajamas to work. After some deliberation, the management concluded that this would be a great way for all of us who have been working so hard this holiday season to relax and have a really fun day at work. The party was a HUGE success! Lots of pizza, lots of soda and certainly, lots of smiling employees in pajamas.

Around here it's a well known fact that StickyJ is a very busy place to work during the Christmas season. Because of this, employees have found that an extra cookie or three is a pleasant boost that can help propel one through a long work day. Are you still trying to figure out what in the world to get your teenager for Christmas? Well, we’ve got a few items picked out especially for that teenage guy or girl who's hard to please. One of my favorite new items that has come in for this holiday season is the AAB1020. This black dog tag (shown above) is made to appear like the metal is old and beat up; and yet, it looks really good! We call the finish on this dog tag the ‘distressed metal’ look, and at the moment this is one of only two pendants in our inventory that is available with the distressed metal finish.

If you’re shopping for a girl I would suggest looking at our lockets section. We have a lot of new lockets in stock. So why not make your jewelry as personalized as possible? Our Custom Logo option gives you the opportunity to engrave far more than just text on a piece of jewelry. Engrave anything from the logo of a charity, organization or your company's logo to your child's artwork. On occasion customers have even sent in a photograph of a tattoo to have it engraved on a piece. Engraving an image that was created personally by you or a loved one can make a piece of jewelry even more meaningful. There are of course limitations as to what can be engraved so please send us your image for evaluation before you place an order. We'll be pleased to evaluate your logo and let you know if it’s suitable to be engraved. If the logo is too complex, or just won’t look good on the item you’ve selected, we’ll tell you BEFORE you order. Of course, you still have the option of requesting one of our ‘standard’ symbols to be engraved on your jewelry purchase. And, there’s typically room for both a symbol and some personalized text. If you have a child with a medical condition then you know how difficult it is to find a medical ID that suits their personality. One of our goals is to produce medical bracelets that children will enjoy wearing. Our current line of interchangeable sport strap bracelet designs range from butterflies and flowers to camouflage and trucks. Because of their growing popularity we've now begun production on 6 new sport strap designs including a few styles we believe adults will find attractive as well. However, we here at StickyJ realize that polyester is not for everyone. For this reason we are constantly designing brand new medical jewelry. We've taken the most popular designs of engravable bracelets, dog tags, charms and pendants and turned them into medical jewelry. We're producing these new Medical ID's from highest quality rubber, titanium, 316L stainless steel, leather and silver.
